September 2: Working Together to Develop Early Literacy Skills (Infant/Toddler)
While infants and toddlers aren’t ready to read just yet, parents and caregivers can learn and practice ways to help children develop a strong foundation for important literacy skills. Participants will learn about the importance of reading on grade level by 3rd grade, learn and understand the components of early literacy such as experimental writing, communicating, vocabulary, and reading and rhyme with infants and toddlers, learn to detect the signs of early literacy difficulties and receive resources to support early literacy development.

This parenting workshop authored by Thomas Haller and Chick Moorman is designed to improve communication and provide practical verbal strategies for raising confident, caring, responsible children. McLaren Thumb Region's Childbirth Education Classes
Classes are taught as a series, beginning on September 9, 2025 and continuing on September 16 and September 23 from 6-8pm. The classes cost $30. If interested, find flyers at McLaren Thumb Region to complete a registration form and make the $30 deposit.

Positive childhood experiences (PCEs) drive healthy child development and lessen the lifelong effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).PCEs help children build resilience and grow into thriving, healthy adults. The HOPE framework centers on those key types of PCEs to help everyone – parents and caregivers, professionals, organizations, and agencies – promote health and well-being for children and families. Attendees will learn about Type 1 and Type 2 thinking, PCEs, the HOPE Framework, and the Four Building Blocks of HOPE.

Building Strong Adolescents is a MSU Extension authored program for parents and guardians of adolescents ages nine to 16. The program focuses on the external and internal assets teens need to succeed.

Promoting self-esteem and school success

Attendees of this workshop will learn about the landmark ACEs study, ACEs and health problems, and what steps can be taken to increase positive and protective factors to decrease risk factors for youth.

Whether you’re a fan of inflatables or mini golf, you’re sure to have a blast at Family Fun Days at Bay Shore Camp!
Come Saturday and the festivities start at 9 AM with Cider and Donuts with activities starting at 10 AM.
Some activities will include: Canoeing on Saginaw Bay, a chance at the Archery Range, being challenged by the climbing wall, and lots more fun for the whole family!
If you’d like to camp for the weekend, call our office today to reserve your spot! Camping check-ins start at 2 pm on Friday and activities start at 3:30 pm. Campers are welcome to stay ‘til Sunday; however, there will be no food or activities provided on Sunday.
Our campground is not designed for ground campfires, but elevated campfire pits are permitted. Bring your own or use one of ours. Wood will be available for a small fee, or bring your own. Even the family dog is permitted at your campsite or in designated areas.

This workshop will help participants learn about communication behaviors and how to recognize communication milestones, explore ways to facilitate the development of speech and language

Class Information:
Guiding Principles for Highly Successful Parenting is a parenting series to help you explore ways that you can be highly effective in raising your kids to be successful in school and in life. This class is meant for parents of kids from toddlers to teens and will explore:
Developing family routines
Developing emotional control in your child
Being a calm assertive parent
Developing consistent rules and relationships
Learning from mistakes and developing empathy & the ability to be thankful as a result
Participation Information:
This is a series class and participants must plan on attending all five weeks.
Certificates for participation are provided upon completion of the series. In order to receive a certificate, participants must actively participate in the webinar throughout all five sessions.
