A great future begins with Great Start! There are only 2,000 days from birth to a child's first day of kindergarten! At birth, the average baby's brain is about a quarter the size of an average adult brain. It doubles its size during the child's first year. By age 5, 90% of a child's brain is developed! Research has shown how critical these first 5 years are. By providing regular opportunities for learning, good nutrition & a loving, nurturing environment, we can set our children up for success!
Great Start Collaborative & Parent Coalition: The purpose of the Great Start Collaborative of Huron County is to ensure families have the resources they need so their young children are healthy, safe, happy, and prepared to succeed in school. They seek input from parents about what their needs are so they can make changes to the services they provide and create new programs to better meet families' needs.
