Helping you be the best parent you can be!
We offer free in-home services that provide information, knowledge and skills to help parents enhance their child's development and help you grow as a parent. Read below to learn about different programs available to parents in Huron County.

Parents as Teachers
Parents as Teachers (PAT) offers parents knowledge & skills to enhance their child's development during the crucial early years of life. Home visits take place on a regular basis in which parent educators work with parents to address parenting concerns, provide parenting support and share age-appropriate information & activities for their children.

Parents as Teachers offers:
- Information on child development (birth - age 5)
- Methods & activities to engage family members & enhance parent-child relationships
- Periodic screening for early ID of developmental delays or health, vision & hearing issues
- Group meetings for parents & children, promoting social interaction with other families & community members
- Referrals to needed community services

Early Head Start
A program for pregnant women, infants and toddlers and their families which provides services, resources & opportunities for success in the home & community.

Services may include:
- Weekly home visits
- Monthly group social outings (ex: playgroups & field trips)
- Individualized monthly lesson plans
- Goal setting
- Parent eduction
- Transport to health appointments

Early Head Start is available to families who meet income guidelines & have at least 1 of the following: a pregnant mom; an infant/toddler 0-3 years old, including those with special needs; a foster child; someone in the home that receives SSI, TANF (cash assistance) or CDC (childcare assistance); be homeless.
